We're seeking an accomplished storytelling professional to drive our features pillar.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record in team leadership, news journalism, or digital media, with a strong focus on editorial direction and strategy.

S/he will be responsible for steering the content stream, collaborating with writers to develop innovative feature ideas, and editing longform pieces that showcase exceptional storytelling and structure.

  • Broad knowledge of local culture, trends, and public sentiment to inform story opportunities
  • Ability to monitor and analyze content performance data to shape future editorial direction
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with a keen sense of style, structure, and clarity

About the Role:

This is a challenging opportunity for a seasoned storyteller to lead a key content pillar, mentor junior writers, and contribute to the development of original, impactful, and hyperlocal features that resonate with our readers.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be resourceful and productive, and thrive in a fast-paced newsroom environment.

Key Responsibilities:

- Develop and execute a compelling editorial vision for the features pillar

- Collaborate with writers to generate bold, unconventional, and timely feature ideas

- Edit and refine longform features, ensuring they are well-reported, fact-checked, and engaging

- Work closely with correspondents to guide, support, and elevate their reporting

- Monitor trends, cultural shifts, and public sentiment to identify story opportunities

- Collaborate with the social team to creatively package and extend features across platforms

- Contribute to the development of original pieces and daily news stories as needed

- Analyze content performance data to inform future editorial direction

Requirements:
  • 4-5 years of experience in news, digital media, or a related field, with team leadership experience
  • Strong background in news journalism, editorial direction, and strategic thinking
  • Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills
  • Broad knowledge of local culture, trends, and public sentiment
  • Able to work in a fast-paced newsroom environment
