Job Title: Director of Finance

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Finance to join our team at Hwa Chong Institution. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing financial strategies to support the school's long-term goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Strategy and Planning: Collaborate with senior management to create annual budgets and financial forecasts, and develop and implement financial strategies to support the school's long-term goals and objectives.
  • Financial Management: Oversee all financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, budget management, and financial reporting, ensuring the school maintains strong financial health and compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of finance personnel, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations to ensure a high-performing finance team.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and present financial reports to the school's leadership (monthly) and Board of Governors (quarterly), providing support and assistance to the Finance Sub-Committee of the Board of Governors.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate financial risks that could impact the school's operations or financial stability, recommending and implementing effective internal controls and financial policies.
  • Audit and Compliance: Coordinate external audits and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, maintaining accurate financial records and documentation.
  • Strategic Financial Projects: Lead or participate in strategic financial projects, such as capital investments, fundraising initiatives, and cost optimization efforts.
  • Financial Literacy: Conduct knowledge-sharing sessions to heighten stakeholders' awareness of sound financial practices, fostering financial literacy and ensuring stakeholders are well-equipped to understand, appreciate, and actively participate in school's financial stewardship.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Professional certification such as CPA, CFA, or CMA is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience in finance leadership roles, preferably in an educational institution or similar non-profit setting.
  • Strong knowledge of Singaporean financial regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in financial software and tools.
  • Ability to multi-task with a keen eye for details.
  • Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.
  • Ability to work independently, handle confidential information with discretion.
  • A team player with a positive outlook.
  • Demonstrate high standard of professional integrity and ethics.
  • Resilient and seek to achieve excellence in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite.
