Port Operations Manager Job Description">

The Port Operations Manager oversees the smooth execution of vessels and shore cargo operations at a busy port. This key role involves coordinating and controlling shipboard operational matters, liaising with PSA Port Control to allocate yard space for cargo loading and/or discharging.

  • Provide administrative and operational support.
  • Assist in coordinating and controlling shipboard operational matters.
  • Liaise with Masters, Principals, Contractors, Shippers and Consignees for efficient vessel operations and quick turn-around time.
  • Take delivery of cargo from shippers and consignees.
  • Plan safe routes for cargo operations and assign duties accordingly.
  • Conduct job briefings before starting each cargo operation.
  • Supervise loading and/or discharging of cargo operations.
  • Ensure correct operating methods are used during cargo loading and/or discharging.
  • Inspect and supervise cargo stowage and/or discharge inside the hatch.
  • Ensure cargo is stored at allocated space in the Port.
  • Collaborate with stevedores in loading and discharging cargo to/from vessels.
  • Oversee the labeling of cargo discharged by vessels.
  • Oversee the tagging and accounting for all keys to motor vehicles discharged by vessels.
  • Oversee the inspection and tallying of motor vehicles discharged by car carrier vessels.
  • Segregate transshipment and local cargo at storage space.
  • Verify shipping documentation presented and ensure accuracy in no cargo being short-shipped or short-landed.
  • Prepare shift operations reports and input into computer system before ending duty.
  • Handle routine office correspondence.
  • Organize and maintain files and records.
  • Manage the stevedore team to ensure compliance with set Standards Operating Procedures.

Requirements:

  • GCE 'N' Level qualifications or above.
  • At least 2 years experience in cargo operations.
  • Proficient in computer applications and MS Office software.
  • Able to lift heavy loads and stand for prolonged periods.
  • Able to work long and irregular hours including late night, weekends and public holidays.
