Job Summary

The role of an Engineering and Design Professional is to enhance the safety and reliability of railway infrastructure systems. This involves leading workflow effectiveness and efficiency improvements in inspection, maintenance, and other supplementary activities.

This includes conducting defect troubleshooting, failure analysis, reliability trending, engineering studies, maintenance/renewal planning, asset management planning, supply chain management planning, and developing solutions to identified problems.

As an Engineering and Design Professional, you will also provide technical advice to team members and resolve complex issues related to railway infrastructure and frontline engineering train faults.

You will engage with and manage contractors and stakeholders to ensure standards and quality are met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work in any SMRT depots, tracks, or facilities
  • Support the division's efforts to achieve daily, short-term, and long-term objectives and KPIs
  • Ensure the timely completion of all duties and projects assigned
  • Collaborate effectively with Operations and Maintenance staff, as well as other engineering and project departments, to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient daily operations
  • Identify safety and reliability concerns and develop solutions
  • Draft technical work instructions for maintenance activities and quality procedures
  • Propose and implement cost-effective technologies and process changes to enhance system performance
  • Support review of project design specifications for safety, reliability, maintainability, and operability
  • Assist in planning annual budgets and work plans
  • Report safety concerns at the workplace
Qualifications and Skills

To be successful in this role, you will require a degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, Electronics, Civil & Structural Engineering or equivalent from a recognized institution.

Previous experience in the railway industry is advantageous, but not essential.

You must possess strong leadership and interpersonal skills, able to work hands-on in office and site environments alongside other engineers and technical staff.

Proficient in Microsoft Office, knowledge of Python and MATLAB is advantageous.

Strong analytical, decision-making, organizational, and planning skills are also required.
