Job Overview

The Maritime Training Manager is responsible for overseeing the sales and delivery of client training programs and services. This key role ensures effective management of resources, leading the team to profitable results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate classes at the Maritime Safety Center, either as an instructor or through coordination with external facilitators.

  • Lead or support proposal development, sales, and execution for client training and certification programs, collaborating with business development teams.

  • Develop strong relationships with clients through creative, impactful, and top-quality training delivery across multiple business units.

  • Promote the Maritime Safety Center at local or regional maritime events, seeking opportunities to broaden awareness and generate interest.

  • Maintain local market intelligence on maritime training needs in the region.

  • Manage financial aspects of training operations, including invoicing, inter-departmental billing, budget planning, and monthly operating report forecasting.

  • Procure and oversee suppliers, initiating and maintaining vendor contracts according to industry requirements.

  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert in developing and facilitating client training programs.

  • Maintain performance records for local producers and stay up-to-date on industry trends and the competitive landscape.

  • Ensure recommendations are made to keep training operations organized, properly staffed, and operating efficiently.

  • Oversee instructor coordination, learning material reproduction, handling, storage, packaging, and delivery, as well as maintain training materials according to quality procedures.

  • Report statistics regarding training delivery and seek continual improvement in ongoing training operations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or recognized equivalent in Engineering or other technical disciplines.

  • A minimum of 6 to 8 years of experience employed by a ship owner/operator, marine classification society, with 5+ years of experience sailing or surveying/auditing gas carrier vessels.

Desired Skills and Knowledge:

  • Advanced knowledge in gas carriers, LNG as a marine fuel, and associated regulations, Rules, and codes, as well as knowledge in other alternative fuels and emerging technologies.

  • Advanced skills in MS Office applications and ability to learn additional programs as required.

  • Comfortable using technology in classroom instruction (AR/VR/Gaming/Simulation).

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to organize, direct, and motivate personnel at various levels.
