Purchasing Specialist

Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Purchasing Specialist to join our procurement team. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of construction materials, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to ensure timely procurement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sourcing and Procurement: Identify, evaluate, and select vendors and suppliers based on quality, cost-effectiveness, reliability, and delivery speed.
  • Negotiation: Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with vendors to secure favorable terms and pricing agreements.
  • Purchase Order Management: Create and issue purchase orders (POs) and ensure accurate documentation and compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels, track usage, and forecast future material needs to prevent shortages and ensure timely availability of materials on site.
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure ongoing collaboration, resolve issues promptly, and optimize procurement processes.
  • Cost Control: Work closely with project directors and accounting to monitor and control project procurement costs.
  • Quality Assurance: Verify materials received meet specified quality standards and escalate any discrepancies or issues to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, safety standards, and company policies throughout the procurement process.

Qualifications:

  • 10 years of experience as a Purchaser in the construction industry.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing procurement processes for construction projects, including sourcing, negotiation, and contract management.
  • Strong understanding of construction materials, equipment, and supply chain management practices.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Certification in purchasing or supply chain management is a plus.
