Job Description

The main goal of the Production Support Engineer is to guarantee application well-being in production, investigate any production issues raised by users and provide workarounds.

Closely follow up on issues from investigation, pass relevant details to L2/L3 teams, clarify user queries and ensure system availability according to SLA across countries for multiple applications/interfaces.

Perform scheduled health checks on applications and raise alerts if necessary.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate production issues, respond based on production defect severity SLAs.
  • Manage and respond to users in a timely manner.
  • Log incident tickets for production issues and user queries.
  • Follow up on defect and incident closure, meeting incident closure KPIs.
  • Ensure system availability as per respective agreed SLAs.
  • Execute daily start of day (SOD) and end of day (EOD) execution for supported applications successfully.
  • Provide support for annual Disaster Recovery (DR) exercises for supported applications.
  • Support System Engineers on server-level patches/upgrade as applicable.
  • Familiarity with 3rd party monitoring tools like Control-M, Genos, Splunk, SQL Monitor.
  • Familiarity with Market Data, and Genos monitoring setup, and dashboard configuration.
  • Update application incident & task documentation properly for each production release.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, demonstrated professionalism, and attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to work and resolve production incidents under strict time constraints, providing workarounds using AS400/mainframe or Unix shell or DB scripts.
  • Strong skills in AS400, Linux/Unix Shell scripting, MS SQL, Oracle, BMC Control-M Scheduler.
  • Familiarity with ITIL methodology [service operation].
  • Prior hand-on production support experience of OPEN Systems/AS4000.
  • Good support knowledge in either one of the retail or wholesale payment or customer information systems.
  • Willingsness to work in onsite shift-support models [24*7].
  • Familiarity with writing AS400 and SQL queries, and parsing logs for issue investigations.
  • Familiarity with writing shell scripts (UNIX) and optimizing incident investigations.
  • Strong written, oral communication skills, able to manage users.
  • Ability to easily adapt to any technology/environment.
  • At least two years' production support experience in banks or financial vendors across multiple technologies/platforms.
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
  • Willingness to work across platforms - UNIX/open, AS/400, and mainframe.
Requirements

To be successful in this role you should have at least two years' experience in production support and be familiar with multiple technologies/platforms.

You should have strong skills in scripting languages such as AS400, Linux/Unix Shell and DB scripts.

Familiarity with ITIL methodology and prior hand-on production support experience are also required.

Excellent communication and presentation skills are essential for this role.

Ability to work in fast-paced, high-pressure environments and willingness to work across platforms - UNIX/open, AS/400, and mainframe.
