Senior Global Material Planner Position

The Senior Global Material Planner plays a critical role in leading and governing the global material planning function to ensure seamless production operations and optimal inventory levels. This position is responsible for setting strategic objectives, developing tactical plans, and driving execution across multiple departments.

This senior-level position requires a seasoned professional with a proven track record of success in supply chain management, particularly in capacity and production planning. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing global teams, driving process improvements, and fostering collaboration across functional boundaries.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and execute comprehensive material planning strategies that align with business goals and objectives.
  • Capacity Planning: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize production schedules and manage supply chain risks.
  • Inventory Management: Lead initiatives to reduce excess and obsolete inventory globally.
Supplier Collaboration and Risk Management:
  • Supplier Development: Partner with suppliers to align capacity and supply plans to production schedules.
  • Risk Management: Collaborate with global supply planning and material sourcing teams to mitigate potential risks and delays.
Process Optimization and Innovation:
  • Process Improvement: Standardize and harmonize global material planning processes and systems for consistency, scalability, and efficiency.
  • Automation: Introduce automation and digital planning capabilities to enhance productivity and accuracy.
People and Organization Leadership and Capability:
  • Leadership: Foster an environment of trust, creativity, innovation, and openness within the global material planning team.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Build strategic partnerships and collaborate with Product Supply, Supply Planning, Commercial Planning, and Costing teams to align material plans with business forecasts and financial objectives.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business operations management, engineering, or related field. An MBA or relevant master's degree is often preferred.
  • Experience: At least 8+ years of experience in supply chain management, with a strong background and understanding in capacity and production planning or similar field.
  • Leadership and Communication: Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders.
  • Analytical and Data-Driven Decision Making: Proficiency in using data analytics and tools to make informed decisions, with the ability to analyze complex data sets and translate insights into actionable strategies.
