About the Role

Ciena Australia Pty Ltd is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Customer Support Engineer to join our team. As a Customer Support Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical support to our global customer base, troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues, and working closely with internal teams to ensure seamless customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage technical support cases/tickets end to end, providing remote technical support via telephone or online.
  • Be available for on-call duties 24x7 when required, providing support outside of normal business hours.
  • Work with other internal teams to manage and resolve customer issues, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
  • Perform Resident Engineering functions on-site or remote, as assigned, supporting Ciena's Ethernet/IP Routing and Switching Platform as primary product.
  • Travel to customer sites and Ciena locations globally, as required, to provide technical support and resolve complex technical issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, such as Electronics and Communications Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Technology.
  • At least one year of related experience in the field of networking or Data Center environment, with knowledge of Ethernet and IP networking protocols and terminologies.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical support experience in the field of Ethernet and IP networking.
  • Knowledge of Optical transmission systems and DWDM technology.
  • Experience in installation, commissioning, and testing of Ethernet switches and routers.
