Job Opportunity: Library Operations Assistant

Overview:

  • Support library operations by providing excellent customer service and ensuring a welcoming environment for patrons.

Detailed Job Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations within the assigned workspace, including managing tasks, assisting with customer inquiries under the No Wrong Door policy, and registering new members.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily operations within the assigned workspace, ensuring efficient use of resources and minimizing disruptions.
  • Assist customers with queries and concerns, applying knowledge of library policies and procedures to resolve issues promptly and professionally.
  • Register new members and process related paperwork, maintaining accurate records and adhering to data protection protocols.
  • Perform other duties as required to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction and contribute to a positive working environment.

Requirements and Qualifications:

To be considered for this role, applicants should possess:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective interaction with diverse groups, including staff, customers, and external partners.
  • A strong understanding of library operations and services, including cataloguing, circulation, and research support.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with relevant software applications, such as integrated library systems (ILS) and online databases.
  • Basic knowledge of data management principles and ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks involving standing, walking, and manual handling of materials.
