Mechanical Design Lead

Job Description:

  • We are seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanical Design Lead to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  1. Design mechanical systems independently, leading projects and guiding junior engineers.
  2. Collaborate with the Section Project Lead on daily operations and project management.
  3. Develop and implement mechanical designs under quality and schedule requirements.
  4. Provide expert advice on design modes and standards.
  5. Stay up-to-date with new regulations, rules, products, and standards.
  6. Report daily project progress, including man-hours and schedules.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  1. Monitor overall project progress and ensure timely completion.
  2. Offer feedback on professional design modes and standards.
  3. Train and mentor junior engineers in mechanical design and collaboration.
  4. Analyze and resolve project issues within mechanical responsibility.
  5. Report design data, including object quantities.
  6. Attend and report in project and section meetings.
  7. Complete assigned tasks for project drawings and documents.
  8. Review marine machinery/piping calculations, specifications, and vendor drawings.
  9. Prepare and review marine machinery/piping 2D arrangements and schematic designs.
  10. Prepare and review marine machinery/piping 3D models and production/site-related drawings.
  11. Support Project Section Leads in Mechanical Technical issues.
  12. Coordinate with shipyards, consultants, and vendors.
  13. Responsible to Mechanical Project Section Leads/Mechanical Technical Leads.
  14. Project Handling: New building, repair, upgrading, and conversion projects.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Machinery/Piping newbuilding design in the marine/offshore industry.
  • Minimum 2 years of senior engineer experience.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD/MS Office/AVEVA.
  • Familiarity with Class rules and Statutory requirements.
  • Good knowledge of machinery/piping/HVAC design.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills.

  • Demonstrated expertise in maritime/marine engineering.
  • Experience with regulatory compliance and certification.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Ability to work independently and lead teams.
