Job Title: Mechanical Design Expert

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Expert to join our organization in Singapore. The successful candidate will be responsible for all mechanical design tasks of given project/product development/job and ensure delivery of the solution according to customers' requirements.

The ideal candidate will collaborate with a team of engineers to oversee all aspects of mechanical research and development from concepts through to mass production, understanding clients' needs and designing innovative and robust mechanisms to achieve the desired outcome of project/job/product requirements.

Responsibilities include adopting a design approach such as hypothesis generation, project design and planning, calculations, material preparation, characterisation and testing, compilation of results and analysis evaluation, as well as initiating market research and proposing design changes to improve user experience: compactness, durability, cost savings, efficiency.

Additionally, the Mechanical Design Expert will conduct Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis for designed products, perform FEA simulations to ensure designs are robust, draft 3D designs in CAD (Solidworks), and perform hands-on in-house prototyping for functional and aesthetic validation.

Other responsibilities include conducting Design for Manufacturing & Assembly (DFM/DFA) for components and designed products, outputting all relevant files and documentation for suppliers, finalizing designs, generating assembly drawings and process sheets, developing technical documents and handbooks, providing technical advice to the team, and providing technical assistance during acceptance at clients' site.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Willingness to learn and enjoy meeting and interacting with people
  • Knowledge in 3D modeling software such as Solidworks is an advantage
  • Able to work hands-on and manage project deliverables independently
  • An effective team player
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Prior experience in programme management is required
