Job Description

The Business Development Director plays a pivotal role in driving business growth and expansion through strategic account planning, leadership, and team management.

  • This key position is responsible for leading a team in securing and retaining client accounts by developing trusted relationships and proposing innovative solutions that exceed client expectations.
  • The Business Development Director will work closely with the business and account teams to identify growth opportunities that align with the company's strategic direction and achieve financial targets.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead overall strategic account planning activities to identify growth opportunities and achieve financial targets
  • Instigate and lead business development activities for assigned accounts to achieve revenue and profitability targets
  • In partnership with other team members, develop consultative relationships and a deep client understanding to enable proactive proposal of strategic multi-channel solutions
  • Facilitate Master Services Agreements and preferred supplier status with key accounts as appropriate
  • Manage RFI and RFP processes, prepare detailed proposals, budget estimates, and manage client and procurement negotiations while maintaining profitability
  • Develop and deliver best-in-class new business pitches in conjunction with other team members
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and initiatives to support strategic account planning and ensure proposals are innovative and relevant
  • Lead, motivate, and coach the team to exceed client expectations and meet business/financial targets
  • Set clear goals and expectations for direct line reports and undertake regular performance reviews
  • Provide training as required for new and existing staff
  • Work collaboratively with other team leaders to form the leadership team for the division
Required Skills and Qualifications

Key Requirements:

  • At least 6 years of sales, marketing, business development, or key account management experience
  • Experience managing a matrix structure to achieve results
  • Commercially minded with the ability to identify and capitalize on business opportunities
  • Strong strategic acumen in helping clients with their business and leading internal teams to develop strategic plans
  • Proven management and leadership skills
  • Ability to work with others to develop winning multi-channel communications proposals
  • Self-motivated and results-oriented
  • Excellent written communication, presentation, and meeting facilitation skills
  • Financial and business acumen
  • Highly driven and organized with attention to detail

Diploma / Bachelor degree, familiarity with multi-country government policies on innovation and entrepreneurship, AI industry policies, and industrial support policies. Management of major projects is preferred.
