About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Asia Energy Correspondent to join our team. As a key member of our energy team, you will be responsible for providing in-depth coverage of Asia's energy markets, including crude oil, natural gas, and renewable energy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Write daily market reports on Asia's physical crude markets
  • Monitor physical oil cargo movements from producer centers and consumer hubs
  • Develop impeccable sources among the top companies trading oil in Asia
  • Break news on the most important developments in crude markets and the regional energy sector
  • Develop a sophisticated understanding of Asia's largest crude and fuel markets and companies in the sector
  • Build deep market knowledge to identify and report out market-moving themes and trends
  • Be able to push story formats beyond text, including graphics, pictures, and TV, as appropriate
  • Work closely with colleagues around the region and globally
About You

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced journalist with a strong track record in covering energy markets. You should have:

  • At least three years of experience reporting on energy markets, or a strong track covering other commodity markets
  • The proven ability to break news fast and reliably
  • Strong news judgment, and the ability to write with speed, clarity, and accuracy
  • A track record in delivering longer-form stories
  • An extensive contact book in the Asian energy industry and the enthusiasm and drive to engage directly with market participants to build on that contact book
  • Strong data handling and analysis skills
  • Excellent written English. Chinese language skills are a plus to cover the Chinese markets
