About the Role


We are seeking a talented and experienced energy and utilities attorney to support our work in building the world's largest corporate renewable energy portfolio, solving cutting-edge energy and carbon challenges, and more.

As a member of the AWS Legal team, you will have the opportunity to work on complex energy projects in APAC, including supply/transmission and regulatory matters, renewable energy project development, and energy-related agreements.

Experience supporting energy public policy matters and disputes is a plus. We're looking for someone who is enthusiastic about technology and renewable energy, enjoys being continually challenged, and demonstrates sound judgment even in ambiguous situations.

Some travel, domestic and international, may be required.

We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

Singapore, SGP

Key Responsibilities


Support the development and implementation of energy projects in APAC, including supply/transmission and regulatory matters, renewable energy project development, and energy-related agreements.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to advise on energy regulations and develop innovative solutions.

Provide expert legal advice on energy-related matters, including contract negotiations and dispute resolution.

Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including energy companies, utilities, and government agencies.

Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and developments in the energy sector, and apply this knowledge to inform business decisions.

Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.

Ability to work independently, while being able to contribute successfully to cross-functional teams.

Excited and passionate about innovating on behalf of our customers.

Requirements


Licensed to practice law in U.S., Singapore, U.K., or other common law jurisdiction.

5+ years' experience as an attorney supporting energy matters.

Experience with renewable energy projects, grid connection agreements, and working with utilities.

Experience advising on energy regulations.

Strong written and oral communication skills.

Ability to work independently while being able to contribute successfully to cross-functional teams.

Excited and passionate about innovating on behalf of our customers.

Preferred Qualifications


A mix of law firm and in-house experience at an energy company or at a corporation with large energy needs.

Experience representing corporate customers in energy contract negotiations.

Strong network of contacts in the energy sector, including energy companies, utilities, and government agencies.

Experience working on energy public policy matters and disputes.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think creatively and develop innovative solutions.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with multiple priorities and deadlines.

Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.

Ability to work independently, while being able to contribute successfully to cross-functional teams.
