Database Management Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Database Management Specialist to take ownership of the day-to-day operational management of databases, ensuring they consistently meet business and service level requirements.

This role involves leading a team, providing technical expertise, and acting as the main point of contact for customers.

  • Oversee daily operational activities of database administration to ensure business and service level requirements are met.
  • Act as the technical lead and mentor for junior database administrators, providing guidance and support.
  • Represent the team in front of customers, ensuring clear communication and professional engagement.
  • Lead and manage database changes through the change request process.
  • Deliver 1st and 2nd level operational support for databases.
  • Respond promptly to incidents by investigating, providing temporary or permanent resolutions, and keeping stakeholders informed.
  • Proactively monitor and measure database performance and availability; identify and implement corrective actions where necessary.
  • Ensure service levels are achieved and maintained; propose and implement action plans when deviations are identified.
  • Maintain accurate database configurations and provide regular reporting to relevant parties.
  • Implement standard operating procedures for database management.
  • Lead the implementation of business continuity measures to safeguard operations.
  • Participate in database implementation projects.
  • Stay updated with emerging database technologies and recommend adoption where appropriate.
  • Foster teamwork and lead by example.
**Key Responsibilities**
Data Administration: Ensure daily operational activities are completed on time and within budget. Develop and maintain database standards and best practices.
Leadership & Collaboration: Lead and mentor junior team members. Foster open communication with internal stakeholders and external customers. Provide leadership and guidance during times of crisis. Implement training programs to enhance team capabilities.
