**Data Centre Migration Project Manager**

Job Description:

The organisation is seeking a highly skilled Project Manager to oversee the migration of approximately 10,000 virtual machines and multiple physical assets from an incumbent technology provider to two new technology providers within a hypervisor-based environment.

This strategic, multi-year program requires exceptional leadership, stakeholder management, and technical delivery oversight within a highly regulated banking environment.

  • Lead and manage the full lifecycle of the Data Centre Migration Project (estimated 2.5 years) from planning, infrastructure design, and build to cutover and post-migration stabilisation.
  • Oversee the migration of physical servers, storage, network equipment, and appliances between data centres, alongside the migration of virtual workloads to two new platforms.
  • Manage two vendor migration streams, ensuring accountability, performance tracking, and timely delivery while maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  1. Coordinating delivery resources, resolving conflicts, and addressing unrealistic delivery expectations.
  2. Proactively identifying, tracking, and resolving risks, issues, and dependencies to maintain project momentum.
  3. Tracking and reporting on project quality, scope, timeline, effort, and resources.
  4. Consolidating project plans against actual costs and recommending optimisation opportunities through component and timeline consolidation.
  5. Defining, scheduling, and monitoring deliverables, milestones, and required tasks to ensure project objectives are met.
Requirements:

The organisation requires:

  • A minimum of 5 years of proven experience managing large-scale data centre, infrastructure, and application migration projects involving 2,000+ servers.
  • Prior experience in banking or financial services regulatory environments is essential.
