Procurement Strategist Job Overview

In this role, you will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive sourcing strategies across multiple categories with a focus on facilities management, capital expenditures, marketing, human resources, and professional services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to establish product and service specifications aligned with the department's strategic plan.
  • Identify local Japan sourcing opportunities, including RFPs, direct negotiations, etc., and utilize market research from internal and external sources to inform sourcing decisions.
  • E nsure adherence to policies and thresholds set by the Chief Procurement Officer.
  • Negotiate and implement contractual agreements in partnership with the internal customer and our Legal department.
  • Manage vendor relationships to ensure contractual compliance and financial efficiency.
  • Continuously review strategic plans with the Sourcing Team to better serve the company as a whole.
  • Build strong, lasting relationships with internal clients and associated vendors.
  • Support the team to deliver exceptional customer service

This is an experienced procurement professional looking to join our Asia Pacific team on a permanent basis. A good understanding of procurement principles, strong negotiation skills, and attention to detail are required.

Requirements:

  • A minimum 7 years' experience in a procurement and/or sourcing role, with indirect category exposure such as facilities management, capital expenditures, marketing, human resource services, and professional services.
  • Experience in commercial and contractual negotiations, competitive market analysis, and ongoing supplier performance management/scorecards in a commercial environment.
  • B usiness proficiency in English and Japanese to support strategic sourcing in the Japan market.
  • Bachelor's degree or degree-equivalent qualifications, CIPS, or combination of education and work experience.
  • Proven project management experience.
  • Strong contractual knowledge and negotiation skills- Understanding of and experience in contract law and applicable legislation.
  • Strong decision-making ability.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interact in a cross-functional environment with all levels of executive management.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated continuous career growth within an organization

Skill Preferences:

  • SAP, e-Builder, and/or other ERP experience.
  • Experience across multiple sourcing categories.
  • Strong language skills (Spoken & Written).
