Job Title: HVAC Systems Design Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced HVAC systems design engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing and developing HVAC systems for EPC projects in the marine shipyard industry.

The successful candidate will be responsible for initiating and promoting safety programs, including monthly safety committee meetings and JSA meetings. They will also be familiar with HVAC offshore/marine regulations and rules, such as SOLAS, ABS, DNV, NORSOK ASHRAE, ISO 7547, 8861 etc.

In addition, they will prepare cooling load calculations, ventilation system designs, air conditioning designs, pressure drop calculations, duct sizing, grille/diffuser sizing, material take-offs, and ensure that the HVAC system design and equipment selection comply with client specifications, class regulations, and hazardous area classifications.

The role also involves submitting HVAC/architectural design documents and drawings for class approval, conducting technical submissions (drawings and documents) checking and revision control, preparing technical specifications, and technical bid evaluations.

Other responsibilities include interfacing with other disciplines, providing necessary guidance on HVAC/architectural installations, and resolving technical problems or issues faced at the work site.

Requirements
  • Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years' experience in EPC or marine/shipyard projects
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC system design, load calculations, equipment selection, ducting & piping
  • Familiarity with IMO, SOLAS, class rules, and marine regulations
  • Proficient in AutoCAD/Revit or similar design tools
