Cost Estimator

My client is a global leader in data centre operations and management, seeking an experienced Cost Estimator to join their APAC team. This role offers a unique opportunity to be part of the growth and expansion of the company in the region.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing cost estimation processes, providing installation costs and value-engineered recommendations for data centre white space fit-out work. They will work closely with Sales Engineering, Design & Construction, Data Centre Operations, Sales, and Finance teams to understand customer requirements and ensure costs are competitive and accurately reflect installation costs.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing installation cost estimates for installation of racks, electrical distribution, cages, containment systems, and data cable infrastructure and other integral components for white space fit-out.
  • Managing the installation cost estimates for both colocation cage/cabinet/interconnection and large-scale enterprise/hyperscale suites builds.
  • Working closely with Sales Engineering, Sales, and Portfolio Management Group to understand customer or internal requirements and to ensure costs are competitive and accurately reflect installation costs.
  • Analyzing vendor quotes and comparing them vs internal database.
  • Maintaining a database of unit costs for work across sub-set of countries/markets in the APAC portfolio.
  • Working with our design engineers and vendors to identify cost reduction opportunities.
  • Working closely with Implementation Managers to identify unique circumstances that could influence installation costs (site-specific).
  • Quantity take-offs and estimating responsibilities for a range of data centre white space fit-outs.
  • Working with contractors and suppliers to obtain and maintain best pricing.
  • Providing quotes and ROM budgets for prospective deals/builds.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A minimum of 7 years' experience in data centre construction and/or telecommunications/data centre industry.
  • Expert-level knowledge of white space fit-outs including rack, cage, electrical distribution, and data cable infrastructure.
  • Expert-level knowledge in reading/interpreting construction plans, one-line drawings, and construction specifications.
  • Expert-level knowledge of Excel and some form of Cost Estimating Software.
  • Familiarity with project cost accounting.
  • Familiarity with the local codes.
  • Advanced analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, mission-critical facilities environment.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce (SFDC), Service Now, Oracle, Yardi.
