Child Care Specialist

The Child Care Specialist will work closely with a team to provide high-quality care and support to children in our care. Key responsibilities include collaborating with professionals from social services, educational institutions, hospitals, and other relevant stakeholders to develop effective care plans.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans for each child based on their unique needs and circumstances.
  • Provide regular counselling sessions to assess the overall wellbeing of residents and formulate/implement care plans to monitor progress and development.
  • Collaborate with Residential Care staff to ensure seamless coordination of services and implementation of care plan interventions.
Care Planning:
  1. Assess the needs and strengths of each child to identify areas for intervention and support.
  2. Develop and maintain accurate records of resident's progress and development, updating case recordings regularly.
  3. Evaluate the outcome of care plans and interventions, making adjustments as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
Family Involvement:
  • Counsel residents and family members/significant adults to facilitate implementation of care plans and permanency plans.
  • Work with stakeholders and community partners to plan and work towards family reunification/permanency planning.
  • Maintain open communication with families and caregivers to ensure their involvement and support throughout the care process.
Resident Management:
  • Monitor residents' safety, health, and positive behaviour while in the Home and during outings/appointments.
  • Implement strategies to promote resident independence, autonomy, and self-esteem.
  • Manage resident behaviour by encouraging good behaviour and preventing/discouraging misbehaviour in strict adherence to rules and discipline procedures.
Requirements:
  • Degree in Social Work or related field.
  • 2 years' experience in a social service setting; fresh graduates considered too.
  • Ability to execute case management with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledgeable and sound in social work theories and practices.
  • Agile and flexible in working with children aged 7-21.
  • Good team player with high level of initiative and independence.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
