Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Temporary Manufacturing Specialist to support our ongoing research and development activities in Additive Manufacturing.

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for supporting the design and operation of 3D printing technologies, including Laser Metal Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF), Vat Photopolymerization or Stereolithography (SLA), and Material Extrusion or Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM).

You will work closely with technical staff and students to drive innovation and ensure safe and efficient lab operations. Your expertise in CAD software, such as NX and Fusion, and your hands-on experience with additive manufacturing processes will be invaluable assets to our team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design for Additive Manufacturing:
    • Develop and apply design strategies suited for LPBF, SLA, and FDM technologies.
    • Perform design for additive manufacturing (AM) processes.
  • 3D Printing & Process Operation:
    • Prepare builds and operate additive manufacturing machines (e.g., LPBF, SLA, FDM), and AM material processing equipment.
    • Perform post-processing, part inspection, and documentation.
  • Teaching & Student Support:
    • Assist in demonstrations and hands-on training for students.
  • Outreach & Public Engagement:
    • Participate and support in outreach events and exhibitions showcasing AM capabilities.
    • Help design and fabricate demonstration models for public engagement.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A strong background in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, Materials Science, or related field.
  • Hands-on experience with Parametric CAD software (e.g., NX, Fusion) and at least one AM process.
  • Experience with slicer (additive manufacturing) software and operating 3D printers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to work independently or as part of a team.
