Job Title: Senior Design Manager

This role requires a highly skilled and experienced individual to oversee the design and coordination of infrastructure projects.

As a Senior Design Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team of design engineers to deliver high-quality designs on time and within budget.

The successful candidate will have excellent technical expertise, leadership skills, and experience in managing complex infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage day-to-day project design and coordination activities, collaborating with consultants and stakeholders to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Provide technical assistance to resolve discrepancies, facilitate approvals, and address engineering challenges during project execution.
  • Assist in ensuring the functioning of the design and technical team for major infrastructure projects, providing design and technical expertise to optimize design coordination and fulfill project requirements.
  • Coordinate with consultants to deal with clients using an integrated multi-disciplinary approach, ensuring complete integration with overall project requirements and regulatory compliance.
  • Assist in preparing and monitoring detailed schedules/targets for temporary and permanent works design ST submissions with consultants to AC, client, and BCA to align with construction programs.
  • Potentially optimize design approaches/proposals to minimize construction costs.
  • Provide technical solutions for complex site issues/challenges and resolve technical discrepancies during project execution.
  • Offer technical inputs to support project planning, scheduling, and execution strategies.
  • Guide and allocate tasks to Senior Design Engineers/Design Engineers for overall design requirements to support the project.
  • Prepare Site Construction and Design Coordination (SCD) for consultants' input and advice on site issues, changes, etc.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Recognized degree in Civil Engineering recognized by the PE board or qualification acceptable to the Commissioner of Building Control as eligible for application as a Resident Engineer or recognized degree in the relevant field subject to acceptance by the Engineer.
  • 10 years of relevant experience in civil engineering/infrastructure projects and 8 years in design for complex rail/road projects.
  • Experience dealing with authorities/agencies submissions ensuring regulatory compliance relating to project preparation and enabling works. Ability to deal with clients and have a clear understanding of various code of practice/specifications driving the design and technical coordination of the project.
  • Good leadership, communication, technical, problem-solving, and analytical skills, being able to be decisive, quick, and think logically resolving issues. Meticulous in planning and organizational skills and the ability to work and perform under pressure.
