About Us

Job Title: Island Environmental Officer

We are seeking an enthusiastic and passionate individual to join our team as an Island Environmental Officer.

This role offers a unique opportunity to work in a beautiful World Heritage listed island environment, sharing your knowledge with guests and promoting a greater understanding and appreciation of the natural and cultural values of K'gari.

About the Role

The Island Environmental Officer is responsible for delivering engaging and insightful guest experiences through immersive nature-based programs and activities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading interpretive walks and presentations to groups of 20-30 people
  • Conducting canoe paddles, Segway Tours, and Archery sessions
  • Maintaining excellent customer service skills, meeting and greeting guests on arrival, and assisting with bookings and inquiries
  • Working with children in Junior Rangers and School group programs
  • Delivering school/conference group activities, including raft building, scavenger hunts, and hut building
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess:

  • A degree in Environmental Sciences, Animal Ecology, Marine Sciences, Outdoor Education or similar
  • Excellent public speaking skills and ability to adapt to variable weather conditions
  • A valid QLD Driver's Licence and MR Licence
  • First aid and CPR certification (or ability to obtain within one month)
  • Queensland Paid Blue Card (working with children check clearance) or ability to obtain within one month
