System Administrator Job Description

We are looking for a skilled System Administrator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Unix/Linux servers (RHEL) as well as VMware vSphere environments, including ESXi hosts and vCenter.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Unix/Linux Server Administration: Install, configure, and maintain Unix/Linux servers (RHEL), ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • VMware vSphere Administration: Manage, provision, and support VMware vSphere environments, including ESXi hosts and vCenter, to meet business needs.
  • System Monitoring and Performance Tuning: Perform system monitoring, performance tuning, and capacity planning to identify areas for improvement.
  • Security and Compliance: Implement and maintain system security, patching, and compliance in line with CIS benchmarks.
  • Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and networking issues, including application-to-database connectivity problems.
  • Storage Management: Manage file systems and storage, including disk partitioning and logical volume management (LVM).
  • Automation: Automate routine tasks using shell scripting (Bash, Perl, Python) or configuration management tools.
  • Backup and Disaster Recovery: Maintain backup and disaster recovery procedures for Unix and VMware systems.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with application teams to support deployments, upgrades, and system migrations.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Unix/Linux Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience in Unix/Linux system administration.
  • VMware Experience: 3+ years of hands-on experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter.
  • Networking Knowledge: Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, NFS, etc.).
  • Storage Systems Experience: Experience with storage systems (SAN/NAS) and backup solutions.
  • ITIL Knowledge: Familiarity with ITIL practices and change management processes.
Preferred Qualifications
  • VMware Certification: VMware Certified Professional (VCP) certification.
  • Linux Certification: Linux Administration Certification (e.g., RHCSA, RHCE, CompTIA Linux+).
