Job Summary

We are seeking a seasoned Unix Administrator and VMware Specialist to join our team. This role requires a highly skilled individual with extensive experience in managing and maintaining Unix/Linux servers, as well as expertise in VMware vSphere environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, and maintain Unix/Linux servers (RHEL) ensuring high uptime and optimal performance.
  • Manage and provision VMware vSphere environments, including ESXi hosts and vCenter, to ensure seamless operation and scalability.
  • Perform system monitoring, performance tuning, and capacity planning to identify areas for improvement and optimize resources.
  • Implement and maintain system security, patching, and compliance according to CIS benchmarks to minimize risk and ensure regulatory adherence.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and networking issues, including application-to-database connectivity problems, using technical expertise and analytical skills.
  • Manage file systems and storage, including disk partitioning and logical volume management (LVM), to ensure efficient data storage and retrieval.
  • Automate routine tasks using shell scripting (Bash, Perl, Python) or configuration management tools to increase productivity and reduce manual errors.
  • Maintain backup and disaster recovery procedures for Unix and VMware systems to ensure business continuity and minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with application teams to support deployments, upgrades, and system migrations, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal disruptions.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in Unix/Linux system administration.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, NFS, etc.).
  • Experience with storage systems (SAN/NAS) and backup solutions.
  • Familiarity with ITIL practices and change management processes.
Preferred Qualifications
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP) certification.
  • Linux Administration Certification (e.g., RHCSA, RHCE, CompTIA Linux+).
