Senior Piping Engineer

Job Summary:

The Senior Piping Engineer will be responsible for leading the planning, execution, and coordination of piping engineering works. This includes reviewing deliverables, ensuring quality and compliance, and providing technical guidance throughout the project lifecycle.

This role is part of succession planning. The selected candidate will be groomed to take over as Department Manager due to the current Manager's planned retirement. A salary adjustment and role upgrade will follow upon promotion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Piping Engineering Support: Review piping layout, 3D models, material take-offs (MTO), and other engineering deliverables to ensure compliance with project specs, international codes, and internal quality standards.

  • Project Planning and Coordination: Plan and coordinate piping engineering activities and manpower allocation for multiple projects.

  • Department Development: Lead and support in the development of department procedures, technical guides, and training materials.

  • Technical Training: Conduct technical training for engineers and designers within the department.

  • Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Collaborate with other disciplines to ensure proper interface and alignment.

  • Field Engineering Support: Provide field engineering support and technical advice during piping installation, testing, and commissioning.

  • Model Reviews and Constructability Checks: Participate in model reviews, constructability checks, and technical evaluations.

  • Issue Resolution: Ensure timely resolution of technical issues and support project milestones.

  • Additional Responsibilities: Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by the Piping Manager.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.

  • Experience: At least 15 years of experience in piping design and engineering, preferably in onshore EPC plant construction projects.

  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of Caesar II for stress analysis and familiarity with interpreting stress/vibration reports.

  • Software Proficiency: Proficient in AutoCAD and 3D model review tools such as Navisworks or SmartPlant Review.

  • Piping Materials and Techniques: Sound understanding of piping materials, specifications, standards, and construction techniques.

  • Mathematical Ability: Ability to perform complex piping calculations (e.g. trigonometry, quadratic equations, etc.).

  • Analytical, Coordination, and Decision-Making Skills: Strong analytical, coordination, and decision-making skills.

  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Good interpersonal and communication skills to lead and work with cross-functional teams.
