The Senior Optometrist is a key member of our eye care team, responsible for providing high-quality eye care services and leading the delivery of clinical services within the department.

  • Delivers expert eye care services, working closely with Ophthalmologists to ensure excellent patient outcomes.
  • Supervises and mentors junior Optometrists and Ophthalmic technicians, supporting their professional development and growth.
  • Conducts accurate objective and/or subjective refractions for individuals of all ages and abilities, ensuring optimal vision correction.
  • Provides clinical supervision support to junior Optometrists and Ophthalmic technicians, promoting a culture of excellence and professionalism.
  • Handles complex patient queries and complaints, responding promptly and effectively to maintain high levels of patient satisfaction.
  • Develops and conducts clinical competency assessments for Optometrists, technicians, and administrative staff, driving continuous improvement and quality assurance.
  • Manages and runs sub-specialty clinics, ensuring seamless delivery of clinical services.
  • Provides primary eye care services, meeting the evolving needs of our patients and communities.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Optometry or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a clinical field, with a strong track record of leadership and service delivery.
  • Full registration with the relevant optometry board, demonstrating expertise and commitment to the profession.
  • Excellent leadership qualities, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
  • Strong communication, supervisory, negotiation, coaching, and managerial skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Exceptional organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
