As a Marine Claims Specialist, you will be responsible for managing claims from start to finish. This includes liaising with clients, intermediaries, surveyors, and other stakeholders to resolve claims efficiently.
Key Responsibilities- Manage claim notifications, arrange surveys, and engage settling agents where required.
- Open claim files and verify policy, reinsurance, and treaty arrangements.
- Issue acknowledgment letters and request supporting documents from clients/intermediaries.
- Draft Loss and Liability Advice (LLA) and Material Loss Report (MLR) for approval and ensure timely reserve updates.
- Maintain claim diaries and manage follow-up timelines before file closure.
- Verify premium payment status and coordinate with the finance department on outstanding issues.
- Refer cases with recovery potential to Recovery Agents and track progress.
- Handle special claims (e.g., ex-gratia, large losses) and update records accordingly.
- Escalate large or complex claims to management as needed.
- Compile regular reports and statistics on claims.
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of general insurance principles and practices.
- Experience in claims handling and adjusting is preferred.
