Principal Engineer Job Description

• The job holder shall report to Section Manager of Piping basis organization and project Lead when assigned to a project role.
• The job holder shall ensure that all assigned work completed on time, project schedules and of the intended quality.
• The job holder shall interface with other organisational units for project related as required.
• The job holder shall maintain a positive and safe working environment at work location.
• The job holder shall comply without fail with the company code of conduct and always ensure ethical behaviour. Unethical behaviour shall not be tolerated.
• The job holder shall be responsible for leading the Material Handling related activity.
• The job holder shall provide relevant technical expertise, which shall include but not limited to, Preparation of Material handling Philosophy/Specification, Study of material handling requirements, establishing special lifting equipment, handling procedures, human factor engineering, providing inputs to other disciplines on material handling and Preparation of detailed material handling reports with the list of material handling equipment.
• The job holder shall participate in model reviews to explain the material handling facilities and methodology.
• The job holder shall participate in workshops and Review meetings such as Hazid, HFE and Constructability
• The job holder shall interact closely with Safety Engineer(s) for safety requirements including Drop Object study.
• The job holder shall coordinate on project specific issues with the Piping Lead.
• The job holder shall follow project specific procedure related to Material handling based on the client specifications.
• The job holder shall work closely with the piping lead of the project to understand their requirements and address their demand on time. Develop reports as required by the lead.
• The job holder shall work closely with Designers, Pipe support Engineers and Piping material engineers.
• The job holder shall troubleshoot to resolve the issues on time and if required escalate to lead for quick resolution. Plan tasks and issue the deliverables as per company procedures.
• The job holder shall issue of discipline deliverables in project specific templates.
• The job holder shall be familiar with the workflows in the project once they have been set up. Taking initiative and provide any input to the Piping Lead on time and highlight in advance if there are any technical challenges.
• The job holder shall provide technical support to the project to obtain necessary approvals from the verification body / classification society or other applicable approving authorities.
• The job holder shall coordinate actively with other offices, for the projects being executed from multiple locations, attend meetings, and communicate effectively and be flexible.

• The job holder must have minimum 15 years of experience having worked in an engineering setup for upstream oil & gas projects (Offshore & FPSO projects) serving in the capacity of a Lead Material handling Engineer.
• The job holder shall perform thorough studies for the components require material handling with respect to weight and component size for various type of equipment as per Safety, Operation and Maintenance requirements.
• The job holder shall perform and provide solutions for handling items such as Compressor, GTGs, WHRU, Pumps, Heat exchangers, Critical valves and Piping inline Instrument and Special items.
• The job holder must have knowledge about all types of Cranes and its restrictions.
• The job holder shall established material handling routes and incorporated the reserve volumes in the 3D model.
• The job holder shall identifying specific material handling requirements within and outside the supplier package limits and participate in meeting with Suppliers for handling requirements.
• The job holder shall generate data sheets for material handling items.
• The job holder shall issue material handling reports.
• The job holder shall be familiar with the review of Piping Isometrics and Pipe Support drawings.

• The job holder must have a minimum bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or other equivalent engineering specialisation.

• The job holder must have excellent technical communication (oral and written) skills with proven ability to present technical issues to design teams, client technical authorities, and client's project management representatives and approving bodies.
• The job holder must be a self-starter and be able to work with minimal supervision, make sound decisions, take independent action, analyze problems, and provide focused solutions to assigned projects.
• The job holder shall possess strong inter-personal and communication skills and be able to work well with people at all levels in the organization.
• The job holder must be familiar with using Navisworks.

• A strong industry knowledge in an MNC work environment would be an advantage.
