Senior Material Handling Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Material Handling Specialist to lead our Material Handling activity in a project role.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all assigned work is completed on time and of intended quality. Key Responsibilities include:

• Collaborating with other organizational units for project related matters as required.
• Maintaining a safe working environment at the workplace location.
• Complying with the company code of conduct and ensuring ethical behavior at all times.

For Project Related Responsibilities:

• Leading the Material Handling related activity.
• Providing relevant technical expertise, including preparation of material handling philosophy/specification, study of material handling requirements, establishing special lifting equipment, handling procedures, human factor engineering, providing inputs to other disciplines on material handling, and preparation of detailed material handling reports with the list of material handling equipment.
• Participating in model reviews to explain the material handling facilities and methodology.
• Participating in workshops and review meetings such as Hazid, HFE, and Constructability.
• Interacting closely with Safety Engineers for safety requirements including Drop Object study.
• Coordinating on project specific issues with the Piping Lead.
• Following project specific procedure related to Material handling based on client specifications.
• Working closely with the piping lead of the project to understand their requirements and address their demand on time. Developing reports as required by the lead. Working closely with Designers, Pipe support Engineers, and Piping material engineers.
• In case of any technical challenges, troubleshooting to resolve the issues on time and if required escalating to the lead for quick resolution.
• Issuing discipline deliverables in project specific templates.
• Familiarity with workflows in the project once they have been set up. Taking initiative and providing any input to the Piping Lead on time and highlighting in advance if there are any technical challenges.
• Providing technical support to the project to obtain necessary approvals from the verification body/classification society or other applicable approving authorities.
• Coordinating actively with other offices for projects being executed from multiple locations, attending meetings, and communicating effectively and being flexible.

Work Experience Requirements:

• A minimum of 15 years of experience having worked in an engineering setup for upstream oil & gas projects (Offshore & FPSO projects) serving in the capacity of a Lead Material handling Engineer.
• Performing thorough studies for components requiring material handling with respect to weight and component size for various types of equipment as per Safety, Operation, and Maintenance requirements.
• Performing and providing solutions for handling items such as Compressors, GTGs, WHRU, Pumps, Heat exchangers, Critical valves, and Piping inline Instrument and Special items.
• Holding knowledge about all types of Cranes and its restrictions.
• Establishing material handling routes and incorporating reserve volumes in the 3D model.
• Identifying specific material handling requirements within and outside the supplier package limits and participating in meeting with Suppliers for handling requirements.
• Ability to generate data sheets for material handling items.
• Ability to issue material handling reports.
• Familiarity with the review of Piping Isometrics and Pipe Support drawings.

Qualifications:

• A minimum bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or other equivalent engineering specialization.

• Excellent technical communication skills (oral and written) with proven ability to present technical issues to design teams, client technical authorities, and client's project management representatives and approving bodies.
• A self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision, make sound decisions, take independent action, analyze problems, and provide focused solutions to assigned projects.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work well with people at all levels in the organization.
• Familiarity with using Navisworks.
• Strong industry knowledge in an MNC work environment would be an advantage.

• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience working with offshore oil and gas projects preferred.
