Senior Occupational Therapist Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Occupational Therapist to join our team. As a Senior Occupational Therapist, you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating occupational therapy services for residents.

  • You will maintain accurate documentation of therapy services as required by quality procedures and guidelines.
  • You will participate in orientation and in-service education and training programs and supervise staff under your charge as required.
  • You will contribute to the smooth running of the department by participating in all activities related to its operation.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Duties
  • Assess and identify individual needs of residents and develop personalized occupational therapy programs to facilitate, restore, improve, or maintain functional abilities.
  • Evaluate and document residents' occupational therapy needs and progress at regular intervals, monitor training programs, and review their effectiveness.
  • Provide caregiver training in resident handling and home exercise programs.
  • Refer residents to specialists for consultation and appropriate intervention when necessary.
  • Evaluate and prescribe rehabilitation aids as required by residents.
  • Offer consultation and support to caregivers and allied health professionals regarding residents' functional status and occupational therapy-related matters.
  • Collaborate with the rehabilitation team on resident handling or matters related to musculoskeletal injuries.
Administrative and Management Practice
  • Maintain efficient records of clientele and proper documentation.
  • Engage in administrative duties relevant to departmental work and responsibility as delegated.
  • Maintain therapy equipment by regular servicing and replace or repair when necessary.
  • Keep proper inventory of all equipment and fixtures with regular updating.
Staff Development/Education
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in occupational therapy-related areas through reading journals and surfing websites.
  • Attend courses on occupational therapy-related areas.
  • Participate in research projects.
  • Conduct in-service training on occupational therapy-related areas for peers.
  • Provide clinical education and supervision for occupational therapy students and allied health trainees on attachment.
Occupational Health and Safety
  • Maintain safe work practices and ensure a safe working environment that meets required standards.
  • Familiarize yourself with all aspects of nursing home emergency and evacuation procedures and guidelines.
Quality Assurance
  • Participate in departmental quality procedures and guidelines and policy reviews when required.
  • Ensure compliance to company quality procedures, guidelines, and policy.
  • Monitor and report on non-compliance and implement necessary changes resulting from quality assurance findings in consultation with the Rehab Manager/DIC.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Highest Education Level: Diploma/Bachelor of Occupational Therapy
  • Years of working experience: Minimum 4 years of local clinical experience in Singapore
  • Any professional License required: Full/Restricted Registration (AHPC - Singapore)
  • Any other knowledge required: Soft skills (Ms Word/Excel basics), Good communication skills
