Eye Care Specialist

The role of an eye care specialist is to diagnose and manage various eye conditions, ensuring the optimal vision and eye health for patients.

  • To educate patients on their refractive status and advise them on appropriate optical aids available.
  • Perform eye examinations using specialized equipment to check patients' ocular health and diagnose symptoms of any general health conditions or any vision defects.
  • Communicate with patients to get detailed case histories.
  • Keep and maintain detailed patient records of their eye health.
  • Dispense and manage the inventory of contact lenses, trials, and solutions.
  • Maintain all equipment and measuring devices to be in good working condition.
Key Responsibilities

  1. Patient Education: To educate patients on their refractive status and advise them on appropriate optical aids available.
  2. Eye Examinations: Perform eye examinations using specialized equipment to check patients' ocular health and diagnose symptoms of any general health conditions or any vision defects.
  3. Case Histories: Communicate with patients to get detailed case histories.
  4. Patient Records: Keep and maintain detailed patient records of their eye health.
  5. Contact Lens Management: Dispense and manage the inventory of contact lenses, trials, and solutions.
  6. Equipment Maintenance: Maintain all equipment and measuring devices to be in good working condition.
Requirements

  1. Education: Possess a degree or diploma in Optometry or equivalent.
  2. Registration: Registration with OOB.
