Position Overview

The Mandarin Language Teacher is responsible for nurturing a classroom of young learners and facilitating small group activities within an inquiry-based, play-oriented environment. Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing engaging circle time activities and small group experiences that promote inquiry and play.
  • Documenting children's learning through contributions to newsletters, class displays, and individual portfolios.
  • Creating meaningful language opportunities that foster a love for Mandarin among children.
  • Establishing and maintaining strong partnerships with parents.

Responsibilities

  • Cultivating a warm, nurturing, and supportive environment.
  • Implementing group-based activities that emphasize exploration and enjoyment.
  • Demonstrating strong teamwork skills.
  • Maintaining effective communication with parents.
  • Recording children's learning experiences through school communications, class boards, and observational reports.
  • Providing a positive language environment that inspires enthusiasm for learning Mandarin.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Early Childhood Care & Education in Teaching (Chinese language) or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 1-2 years of relevant experience in a pre-school or childcare setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Proficiency in spoken, written, and reading Mandarin is essential for teaching.
  • ECDA L2 certification.
  • Preference for candidates with a relevant undergraduate degree.
  • At least 2 years of experience in early childhood education.
  • Standard Mandarin proficiency with proper writing skills.
  • A proactive and responsible work ethic.
