Job Opportunity: Paintings Conservator

This role is designed to preserve, present and promote the cultural heritage of Singapore. The conservator will be responsible for caring for, managing and facilitating access to the National Collection.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Carry out conservation assessments, documentation and treatments on artworks and artefacts, primarily easel paintings from the National Collection.
  • Manage exhibition projects as liaison officer to cover conservation related as well as administrative aspects of exhibition preparations including preventive conservation.
  • Perform relevant conservation analysis and tests in contributing to the preservation and conservation knowledge of the NHB collections.
  • Provide supervision and training on the job to subordinates and others as required.
Requirements:
  • A master's degree in Conservation with a speciality in Easel Paintings from a recognized training institution.
  • Preferably with a minimum of 3 – 5 years' work experience as a full-time staff.
  • Ability to carry out comprehensive and complex treatments with a high degree of manual dexterity and aesthetic sensitivity.
  • Ability to work independently and as a strong team player.

We are looking for an individual who can apply conservation principles and practices with sound contextual judgement, while collaboratively working with all relevant stakeholders.
