R&D Engineer Job Description.

  • The ideal candidate will have a strong background in metallurgical laboratories, master alloy preparation, and metal processing. They should be able to design and develop technical solutions for assigned projects within defined quality standards.
  • A key aspect of this role is project management, including R&D, test plans, process engineering, scale-up to production, and regulatory compliance.
  • Responsibilities include independently planning and executing research projects, conducting/monitoring experiments, and supporting laboratory operations.
  • The successful candidate must prepare professional technical reports and documentation for both internal/external stakeholders.
  • They will also collaborate with subcontractors and third-party service providers for experimental activities.
  • Budget management is crucial as the candidate will need to manage project-related administrative tasks including expense reporting, invoice approval, and data tracking.
  • Field visits to monitor research project progress are also required.
  • The candidate will supervise assistant researchers, offering guidance and resources to ensure project success.
  • A Master's degree in Metallurgical/Materials Engineering or a related field is necessary along with a minimum of 7 years of industrial R&D experience in metal/alloy development, refining, melting, casting, and related processes.
  • Expertise in R&D, alloying & scaling up research into industrial-scale applications is essential.
  • Strong technical writing skills are required for drafting protocols, reports, and formal communication.
  • The ideal candidate should be highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-driven, with the ability to work independently.
  • An analytical thinker with innovative problem-solving capabilities is necessary.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a holistic perspective is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is also necessary.
