Job Title: Senior Research Scientist

Job Description:
The School of Materials Science and Engineering offers a stimulating environment for staff and students to conduct interdisciplinary research in key areas such as computational materials science, characterization materials science, defense composite materials, functional composite materials, energy, nanomaterials, low-dimensional materials, biomaterials, biological materials, bio-inspired materials, and sustainable materials.

As a senior research scientist, you will join our dynamic team at the School of Materials and Science Engineering at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. We are seeking a leading scientist with expertise in microbiology and experience in materials science and engineering would be ideal. The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge research at the intersection of materials science, advanced manufacturing, robotics, and sensing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Isolate, identify, and investigate how probiotics can impact growth rate and health of fish in the aquaculture industry.
  • Develop and formulate encapsulation systems for the delivery of probiotics, which will be part of the job scope.
  • Conduct growth trials and challenge tests with research collaborators to understand the impact of functional fish feeds versus existing feeds.

Job Requirements:
  • A master's qualification with relevant research experience in stated fields is required.
  • The candidate will work on an aquaculture-related project funded by a government agency.
  • The candidate will be part of a research team providing expertise knowledge and skills in microbiology and materials science to address the hypothesis in the project.
