Project Lead Engineer

The role of a Project Lead Engineer involves overseeing the entire schedule for new product introduction, from prototypes to mass production. This requires establishing clear expectations and deliverables, defining concise goals and objectives within a project framework, and initiating meetings and agendas to achieve these goals.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating communication between product designers and internal product development teams on design concepts, technical trade-offs, and engineering solutions.
  • Liaising with customers and internal process engineering teams in establishing stable and repeatable processes through design of experiments.
  • Facilitating communication between customers and internal quality teams for supplier inspection, incoming quality control, in-process quality control, and outgoing quality control implementation.
  • Leading cross-functional teams in managing resources to meet customer demand, including equipment purchases, human resource hiring, tooling, and shop floor management.
  • Negotiating with strategic suppliers on quality, supply, and cost issues.
  • Managing program costs and expenses effectively.

Qualifications required include:

  • A bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science, with knowledge of manufacturing processes being an asset.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Able to simplify complex issues into straightforward frameworks with concrete action plans.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and experience working closely with cross-functional teams.
