Work Preparation Specialist

The Work Preparation Specialist will collaborate closely with educators and allied health professionals to prepare students for job attachments and placements. This involves identifying and providing support to develop students' confidence and interest in the job before attachments.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with educators and allied health professionals to prepare students for job attachments and placements.
  • Identify and provide support to develop students' confidence and interest in the job before attachments.
  • Source and arrange job attachment opportunities for students.
  • Match students with suitable job opportunities.
  • Analyze and evaluate the suitability of job sites.
  • Prepare students for job attachments.
  • Negotiate employment terms with employers after attachments, if applicable.
  • Provide continued support and guidance to students on the job.
  • Work closely with families, teachers, community partners, and employers to support students during the job attachment period.
  • Collaborate with other school staff to improve vocational curriculum and resources.
  • Conduct training and sharing sessions with school staff on trends used to support students at worksites.
  • Develop training plans and materials for in-house training, accommodating student needs as necessary.
  • Conduct pre- and post-vocational assessments of students.
  • Submit reports and records related to job attachments and interviews.
  • Plan, implement, and monitor job attachments in school when out-of-school attachments are not available.
  • Organize work exposure activities such as learning journeys and job shadowing for students.
  • Collaborate with TPC and post-school agencies/employers to ensure smooth transition into School-to-Work transition programs and post-school services.
  • Support schools in enhancing students' holistic learning experience.
  • Communicate and collaborate with caregivers/case workers and employers to jointly support and sustain students' job attachments and experiences.
Qualifications:
  • A diploma or degree in any discipline, accompanied by at least two years of working experience.

A strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills. A self-motivated and independent individual willing to think creatively when working with people with intellectual disabilities.
