About the Team

The TikTok Eng-AI Innovation Center is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) technologies, including Large Language Models (LLMs) and multi-modal LLMs. Our mission is to empower machines to better understand user creations on the TikTok platform.

We are focused on enhancing content understanding for video, image, audio, and text, which can lead to improved user experiences, better search and recommendation capabilities, and more accurate detection and prevention of internet abuse and fraud.

Our team is also exploring the application of LLMs to optimize TikTok's codebase, making it more accessible and efficient for our engineers.

Job Description

We are seeking talented individuals to join our team as PhD interns in 2025. This opportunity will allow students to actively contribute to our products and research, and to shape the future of TikTok's emerging technologies.

Candidates can apply for a maximum of two positions and will be considered in the order they apply. The application limit applies to TikTok and its affiliates' jobs globally.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and we encourage candidates to apply early. Successful candidates must be able to commit to at least a 3-month internship period.

Main Job Directions
  • Drive core technology development for large language model code direction, continuously optimizing code comprehension, reasoning, and generation capabilities.
  • Focus on improving code comprehension, reasoning, and generation capabilities in real-world production codebases, enhancing TikTok service code performance and privacy compliance.
  • Explore Code Agent capabilities suitable for actual business production environments, and improve TikTok R&D efficiency.
Minimum Qualifications
  1. PHD with top AI conference papers in ML/CV/NLP are required.
  2. Excellent coding ability, data structures, and fundamental algorithm skills, proficient in C/C++ or Python, winners of competitions such as ACM/ICPC, NOI/IOI, Top Coder, Kaggle, etc.
  3. In-depth research experience in Machine Learning, with a particular emphasis on Large Language Models (LLMs) and Generative AI.
  4. Excellent ability to analyze and solve problems, and be passionate about solving challenging problems.
