Art Conservation Professional

We are seeking a highly skilled Art Conservation Professional to join our team. As a Conservator (Paintings), you will be responsible for ensuring the long-term preservation and conservation of artworks and artefacts in our National Collection.

About the Role:

  • You will carry out conservation assessments, documentation, and treatments on easel paintings from the National Collection, following established procedures and guidelines.
  • As liaison officer, you will manage exhibition projects covering conservation-related and administrative aspects, including preventive conservation.
  • You will conduct conservation analysis and tests to contribute to the preservation and conservation knowledge of the collections.
  • As a team player, you will supervise and train subordinates and others as required, ensuring the successful completion of projects.
  • You will participate in outreach activities to promote awareness of conservation among diverse audience groups and the public.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • A master's degree in Conservation with a speciality in Easel Paintings from a recognized training institution is essential.
  • Preferably 3-5 years' work experience as a full-time staff member in a related field.
  • You must have the ability to carry out complex treatments with manual dexterity and aesthetic sensitivity.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills are required, with experience working with diverse stakeholders and materials.
  • You should be able to adapt to a multi-lingual and multi-racial environment.
