Submarine Cable Network Operations Manager

This is an exciting opportunity to join our organization as a Submarine Cable Network Operations Manager. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the operational integrity of our submarine cable network and cable landing station.

The ideal candidate will have experience in monitoring and maintaining complex network systems, identifying and resolving technical issues, and implementing preventative measures to minimize downtime. Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential in this role, as you will work closely with cross-functional teams to achieve our goals.

  • Job Description: Monitor and maintain the operational integrity of our submarine cable network and cable landing station
  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Monitor the submarine cable network and systems 24/7
    • Detect and respond to anomalies, outages, and performance issues
    • Analyze alarms and implement preventative measures
    • Incident Management:
      • Identify and assess network and landing station incidents
      • Troubleshoot and resolve or escalate issues
      • Collaborate with teams and document incident details
    • Performance Optimization:
      • Analyze performance data and recommend improvements
      • Implement strategies to enhance network capacity and reliability
    • Change Management:
      • Review and approve planned network changes
      • Coordinate maintenance and upgrades with engineering teams
    • Technical Support:
      • Provide technical support to customers
      • Manage co-location services and troubleshoot connections
    • Documentation:
      • Maintain accurate records of events, incidents, and actions
      • Update standard operating procedures (SOPs)
    • Proactive Monitoring:
      • Implement measures to prevent potential issues
      • Conduct routine checks and system updates
    • Equipment Management:
      • Understand network infrastructure and coordinate maintenance
    • Compliance:
      • Adhere to industry regulations and security protocols
    • Security and Access Control:
      • Enforce security protocols and manage access to equipment
    • Project Support:
      • Participate in new cable installation projects
    • Vendor Management:
      • Manage relationships with equipment vendors

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience with a telecommunication service provider or a major transmission equipment vendor
  • Prior experience in Submarine Cable Landing Station, NOC environment and/or optical transmission is highly desirable
  • Graduate or Diploma in Telecommunications/Electrical Engineering. Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CompTIA Network+, or similar qualifications are a plus
  • Strong understanding of submarine cable systems, networking principles, and telecommunications technologies
  • Good understanding and working knowledge of SDH, DWDM/submarine cable system operations, Ethernet technologies, and structured cabling are a plus
  • Familiarity with network and landing station monitoring tools, protocols, and technologies used in NOC and CLS environments
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose, communicate, and resolve complex network and landing station issues efficiently
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, especially during high-stress situations
  • Ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams and coordinate with external partners
  • Capacity to work in a fast-paced, 24/7 environment and handle shifting priorities
  • Meticulous in monitoring and documenting network and landing station events and actions
