The role of Master Mariner encompasses a broad spectrum of responsibilities, with the primary focus on ensuring the safe, efficient, and operationally sound management of the vessel and its personnel.
- This includes ultimate responsibility for the safety, efficiency, and operations of the ship and personnel.
- Acting as the representative of the Company, safeguarding its interests and those of the Charterer.
- Holding overriding authority in decisions related to Quality, Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental protection (QHSSE).
The Master Mariner has full authority over all onboard personnel and ensures compliance with Oil Pollution Prevention Legislations and maritime regulations.

- Approving operational or maintenance work affecting ship's safety or watertight integrity with the Company's authorization.
- Prohibiting repairs affecting watertight integrity while ship is loaded, except in emergencies.
The Master Mariner is responsible for ensuring crew training in emergency procedures and safety equipment within 24 hours of joining, and managing and reporting accidents and medical cases per Company protocols.

The Master Mariner is responsible for obtaining relevant documents and information from predecessor, conducting thorough inspection of the ship upon assuming command, preparing and submitting Assignment Report and Change of Command Report, and briefing successor on ship characteristics, defects, and charter party terms.

The Master Mariner conducts weekly inspections with Chief Engineer and Chief Officer covering safety systems, cleanliness and hygiene, living quarters, hospital, laundry, public spaces, galley, storerooms, refrigerators, and records inspections in the Deck Logbook.
