About the Research Position

The Centre for Quantum Technologies brings together physicists, computer scientists and engineers to do basic research on quantum physics and build devices based on quantum phenomena.

Experts in this new discipline of quantum technologies are applying their discoveries in computing, communications, and sensing.

This position is part of a larger initiative to advance our understanding of quantum mechanics.

Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our research team as a Research Assistant.

In an ongoing project, we are utilizing semiring techniques to identify quantum or classical relative entropies and other entropic quantities relevant in tasks related to large-sample and catalytic majorization of classical or quantum statistical experiments.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Conducting research within the project outlined above, in collaboration with other group members
  • Authoring peer-reviewed research papers
  • Presenting research both at conferences and within CQT or the research group
  • Participating in teaching duties as a teaching assistant for courses at the bachelor or master level
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Master's degree in mathematics, (mathematical) physics or computer science
  • Experience in academic research in a closely related field
  • A strong mathematical background, in particular affinity with real-algebraic techniques utilized in this project
  • A demonstrated ability to work effectively with colleagues
  • Experience as a teaching assistant for university-level courses
  • Strong communication and writing skills
