Senior Lab Technician Job Description

This is a critical role in the production department where you will be responsible for conducting daily pilot trials to support product development.

The primary objective of this position is to ensure that all lab trials meet the specified requirements. This involves maintaining laboratory equipment, following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Halal, and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) standards.

You will work closely with the product experts to guarantee that the trials meet the development objectives. Your expertise will be crucial in troubleshooting and resolving trial-related issues, ensuring smooth operations and high-quality results.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to mentor junior team members, sharing your knowledge and experience to help them develop their technical skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily pilot trials to support product development
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and follow GMP, Halal, and HACCP standards
  • Work closely with product experts to ensure trials meet development objectives
  • Troubleshoot and resolve trial-related issues
  • Mentor junior team members
  • Contribute to process optimization and troubleshooting

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience in an R&D and/or manufacturing environment, particularly in the food industry
  • Experience in operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting chocolate/compound pilot trials
  • Knowledge of policies and procedures in an R&D laboratory environment and principles of GMP, HACCP, and Halal
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English; other local languages such as Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin will be an added advantage
  • Basic knowledge and skills for maintenance tasks
  • Good knowledge of compound and chocolate is an added advantage
