Position Overview: Illumina is in search of a Senior Program Manager to spearhead project execution and design modifications within the On-Market Portfolio (Sequencing Platforms). Ideal candidates will possess extensive experience in product development processes, quality investigations, CAPAs, and design modifications. Relevant multi-disciplinary expertise in engineering, instrumentation, and software is essential. Familiarity with In-Vitro Diagnostics (IVD) and Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) is advantageous.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and collaborate with the global platform management team to create comprehensive project plans, define objectives and goals, establish work breakdown structures, manage changes and resources, identify critical tasks with timelines, analyze dependencies, and set milestones.
  • Formulate and engage project teams to assess potential risks and develop mitigation strategies. Implement project effectiveness evaluations and monitor them alongside leadership. Track and report on project key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Deliver project plans and provide consistent updates to senior management throughout the project management lifecycle to ensure alignment with planned commitments and expectations.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance portfolio capabilities in line with business priorities. Utilize best practices and insights from internal and external business challenges to optimize products and cost efficiency.
  • Independently manage multiple concurrent projects while effectively communicating across all organizational levels.
  • Network with internal stakeholders in a matrixed organization to balance priorities and optimize execution.
  • Adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic work environment with changing demands, collaborating with teams across various time zones. Exhibit strong leadership to effectively engage across teams and functions.

Essential Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience in product development lifecycles and on-market product management within R&D, Manufacturing Operations, or Software Development environments, from planning to launch and field deployment.
  • Proficient in project management tools, including Microsoft Project and Office Timeline Pro+, to identify workstream dependencies, determine critical paths, manage resources, and optimize schedules.
  • Familiarity with Atlassian Confluence and Jira software.
  • Proven success as an independent project manager, demonstrating strong communication, interpersonal skills, and customer focus.
  • Advanced maturity and emotional intelligence, capable of negotiating and influencing across functions.
  • Experience in a regulated environment, knowledgeable about design controls for medical device development, including 21CFR820.30, ISO 13485:2016, ISO 14971:2019, and IEC 62304:2006.
  • Preferred familiarity with genotyping and genetic sequencing principles, as well as sequencing devices and applications.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical, Computer, or Mechanical Engineering, with at least 8 years of experience in a regulated industry focused on product development (preferably in Medical Devices).
  • A minimum of 4 years in a project management role; PMP certification is a plus.
