Production Coordinator Job Description

A Production Coordinator is a vital team member who supports the smooth running of theatre productions. They work closely with all departments to ensure that every aspect of the production runs efficiently.

  • Create and manage rehearsal schedules, ensuring that all teams are aware of their responsibilities and deadlines.

  • Organize and maintain props, furniture, and set pieces, making sure they are in good condition and easily accessible during rehearsals and performances.

  • Liaise with costume and wig teams to arrange fittings and alterations, ensuring that all actors' needs are met.

  • Collate information from various departments and provide updates to the production team, ensuring that everyone is informed and on track.

  • Compile prompt scripts with notes on actors' cues, prop requirements, lighting, and sound details.

  • Maintain and make adjustments to the set and props between scene changes, ensuring a seamless transition.

  • Cue lighting and sound technicians to ensure precise timing and synchronization.

  • Manage the backstage and onstage areas during performances, ensuring the smooth flow of the show.

  • Call actors for rehearsals and performances, making sure they are aware of their schedule and duties.

  • Oversee the maintenance of props, furniture, and set pieces during the run, ensuring they remain in good condition.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Excel, with the ability to create and manage schedules, reports, and other documents.

  • Knowledge of lighting and sound techniques, with the ability to cue and coordinate these elements during performances.

  • Ability to work under pressure, think critically, and solve problems quickly and effectively.
