Job Title: Freight Transportation Operator

This role requires a skilled and safe driver to transport goods between locations using heavy goods vehicles. The operator must plan routes efficiently, meet delivery schedules, and load/unload cargo as required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate HGVs or lorries safely and responsibly, adhering to traffic laws and regulations.
  • Perform daily vehicle checks, including brakes, lights, tires, and other essential systems.
  • Load and unload cargo, sometimes requiring assistance or the use of lifting equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of driving hours and deliveries.
  • Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients and warehouse staff.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Excellent driving skills and road awareness.
  • Ability to plan efficient routes and manage time effectively.
  • Physical fitness for loading/unloading when required.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge for vehicle checks.
  • Strong communication and record-keeping skills.
Typical Qualifications:
  • Valid HGV/LGV driving license (Category C or C+E depending on vehicle size).
  • Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence).
  • Tachograph card for digital recording of driving hours.
  • Experience in logistics or delivery is often preferred.
