Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Database Architect to join our team. As a key member of our database management team, you will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our databases to ensure optimal performance.
About the Role
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Designing and implementing database architectures to meet business requirements, including data modeling, schema design, and normalization.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions.
- Ensuring data security and integrity through implementation of robust access controls, encryption, and backup procedures.
- Monitoring and optimizing database performance to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.
- Providing expert-level technical guidance and support to application teams and stakeholders.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- 10+ years of experience in database administration, encompassing installation, configuration, backup/recovery, patching, database tuning, and support for application design and development.
- Expert knowledge of database systems including physical database modeling, information engineering, multi-tier design and development, and open systems.
- Demonstrated expertise in high availability and disaster recovery techniques and concepts.
- Familiarity with performance analysis (IO, CPU, etc.) and optimization (indexes, partitions, schema re-design, etc.).
- Relevant experience on Oracle, SQL Server, EDB Postgres, MongoDB is preferred.
- Cloud-native database services experience, including serverless database options and microservices architectures.
- Knowledge of cloud security best practices for databases, including encryption, access control, and compliance considerations.
- Strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills, as well as effective communication skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
