Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Legal Counsel to join our team at Citibank (Switzerland) AG. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing legal guidance and support to our business units across Asia Pacific.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide legal counsel to the business, participating in strategic initiatives and providing subject matter expertise and interpretations of relevant laws, rules, regulations, and industry practices.
  • Partner with legal peers to evaluate business proposals by applying institutional knowledge and risk appetite.
  • Collaborate across internal lines of business, control/support functions, and/or external counsel.
  • Participate in business planning and development initiatives; contribute to business objectives by providing thought leadership.
  • Proactively identify, evaluate, and contribute to the appropriate management of legal, regulatory, and reputational risk.
  • Manage day-to-day legal activities as a subject matter expert in area of responsibility.
  • Monitor management of complex legal issues and transactions.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made.

Requirements
  • 6-10 years of relevant industry experience, preferably in Banking or financial services or a law firm.
  • Regional experience in Emerging Markets.
  • Fluency in Microsoft Word.
  • Knowledge of international laws, regulations, and practices.
  • Experience with complex deals and ability to analyze issues.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, organizational, and relationship management skills.
  • Proven ability to apply sound judgment while managing assignments.
  • A skilled negotiator with the ability to work with colleagues of varying seniority.
  • Teamwork and adaptability.
  • Bar license in good standing to practice law.
  • Education: Juris Doctorate or equivalent law degree.
